Besides a great location in a quiet residential neighborhood, a friendly, dedicated staff, and charming surroundings, one of the highlights of staying at Hotel Porta San Mamolo is BREAKFAST!
There is pretty much anything you could want and more on the breakfast buffet. There are breads, cured meats and cheeses, fresh and dried fruits, cereals, yogurts, fresh pastries, the chafing dish holds scrambled eggs and American bacon, sometimes pancetta, there are soft boiled eggs, juices and continuous cups of your favorite coffee beverages. I drank 2-3 latte macchiato every morning!
Most days, my protein breakfast held me through lunch time, and I had energy enough to make it until dinner!
On Monday, 5 of our 7 guests arrived a day early, before we officially began our group.
We met Jean and Dave, Linda and Tim, and Elizabeth as they arrived by taxi from the airport and checked in. We walked them to Piazza Maggiore, gave them maps to navigate themselves home, and let them settle in. That evening, Shannon, Elizabeth and I had dinner at Al 15, (around the corner from the hotel), while the two couples caught up over pizza at La Mela. We were all excited about tomorrow, when our Grape Hops- Palmabella's Italy tour would begin!
