Kim was asking so I'l post it here. It works out to 10-11 miles/day for the AV1 and just under 10 for Nepal.
About 2500 feet of altitude gain/day for AV1 and maybe 1500/day for Nepal but obviously the altitudes are twice as high!
Yeah Kim, those huts are nice. By the websites I like the look of day two the best-Fanes.It's really funny after hiking hard in the mountains trying to decide which wine and which of the menu specials you would like. No camp food there, Did you see the photos of the food at the Fanes hut?. Just for fun I'll post that here.

I tried two red wines of the Alto Adige. Majere which was 70% Casseta and 30% cab- Rich and concentrated, care for some roast with that?
Castelfeder Schiava (grape is schiava which is Vernatsh in German)- Wow light red with very interesting fruit but very nice balance. I look forward to further experimentation!

Yum - you know, that's one trip I'll have to add the potentials for down the road (well, the Italy one, not so much on Nepal).

I think I would be inspired to hike more if that kind of meal was awaiting me!
