Peg and I have been to Venice 3 times before, 93 on our Honeymoon/Venice Marathon, 98 Spring and Christmas 2002. We love it and have intended to go back a few times, but our trips always focused on places just a little too far away.
So we decided to combine a Venice trip with a Dolomite hiking trip which was planned before I had any ideas of going to Nepal.
The hotels we stayed at before are now 50%-70% more expensive so we decided to stay in an apartment. It is near the San Toma Vaporetto Stop in San Polo near the Tragetto where you can cross over to San Marco.
Benefits of an apartment- Kitchen to cook semi-prepared meals (Rialto Market) ,Washer,
3 times as much space, privacy and it is under 200 dollars/night even with the VERY WEAK dollar. Below are photos. Dosn't it look nice? See below

Great find! Very spacious. Sounds like it is in a great location also. I stayed in an apartment in Venice for the first time last summer. It was nice to be able to cook when you didn't feel like going out.

It looks great! Really spacious, and what a neat bathroom. Nice closed shower stall, for instance, and everything looks brand new.

The apartment looks lovely; be careful you don't hit your head on the bedroom ceiling though!
