Joshua Tree- round trip on the Boyscout trail

It was a fabulous weekend. The weather was perfect, just a slight chill in the air as we left the parking lot from the Boyscout trailhead. Big woops,in all the rush to get my sister and Nephew ready I forgot my camera. That was a stupid mistake as the desert flowers were in full bloom. We picked up a disposable camera but I won't have those for a while.

Yellow flowers were at some points carpeting the ground. My favorite might be the deep red flower of a cactus.

We also managed to see two endangered desert torsoises. One was a baby. I pulled a few pictures off the internet as substitutes.

The hike in total was 17.3 miles and we did an OK pace. Peg, my sister Kathy and nephew Sam (Just about to turn 12) were in our group. Afterwards we went to the very good Crossroads Cafe for a late lunch arriving home late in the evening exausted.
