Last Thursday we celebrated Adam's 21st Birthday. Since he goes to college in the city we were able to take him to dinner. He wanted to try a restaurant that we had never been to before. We settled on Le Virtu , which focuses on the cuisine of the Abruzzo Region while also featuring dishes from Ascoli Piceno (birthplace of the Executive Chef). Le Virtu has been opened for 1 year and is part of the South Philadelphia restaurant explosion. It was very, very good. I am looking forward to returning in the nicer weather when we could dine on the patio.
We thought that we would be buying Adam his first drink as a legal adult. Silly me. Turns out that his friends had taken him out for a drink at midnight. After a Birthday Toast, we shared a variety of antipaste. The menu had some wonderful choices and we had great difficulty deciding what to order and what we might want to share.
My husband chose Gnocchi Com Pomodoro & Mozzarella
Adam chose Roasted Pork seasoned with garlic, hot pepper and glazed apple
Jordan chose a Timballo Di Scripelle which was stuffed with tiny meatballs
I ordered Ravioli Al Cioccolata Ripieni Di Coniglio
Desserts were great, though we actually had a hard time finishing them.
It was a great way to celebrate this special day and a real treat for me to go out to dinner on a weeknight. So nice not to rush home from work to cook! Adam was happy with the meal and happy to go back to school - I am sure to finish celebrating his day with his friends!

There are absolutely no restaurants like that in Tallahassee! You are so lucky to celebrate and eat well, too.

That looks simply delicious, and how nice that you can celebrate your son's birthday with him. Seem like many of us have children with February birthdays.
