I really can't find the words to describe how much I enjoyed the Slow Travel Get Together. How lucky was I to stumble upon this website in 2006 when I was planning a trip to Italy? At the time, all I knew was that 1. I wanted to plan my own trip and 2. I wanted to stay in an apartment rather than a hotel and 3.rather than seeing all of the tourist sights,I wanted to feel a part of the local scene. This is how we often traveled in the U.S. Little did I realize that there was an entire community who shared this travel philosophy. It was easy to stay involved with such like minded people long after our trip. To meet so many people who I have come to think of as friends in person was a special treat! A huge thank you to the organizers of this event is in order (Jane & Ken,Marcia and Dave,Shannon, & Palma & Brad).Though there might have been glitches I am unaware of, the weekend seemed to flow smoothely. The combination of food, friends and fun was perfect!
I had never been to Southern California and loved San Diego - so different from the east coast. Loved the view from our room too.
Thank you to my roomies,Colleenk,Teaberry, and JGK for letting this newbie share our great 2 bedroom 3 bath villa at the Island Palms!
I was so busy enjoying both the organized and informal activities that I didn't actually take many pictures. We enjoyed our visit to Balboa Park on Friday and our stroll through the outdoor market in Little Italy on Saturday.
Before I knew it, it was Monday morning and time to head to the Airport for our trip home. Not sure when my next Europe trip will be, but I am sure that I will be attending another Slow Travel Get Together!

Sheri, the weekend was perfection wasn't it? Although I do have a disappointment or two. One is that I didn't have a chance to talk with you and get to know you more. That had been one of my goals for the weekend. Maybe at the next GTG we can carve out sometime.

Sheri, It was really such a wonderful weekend in every way and especially to meet you and others that had long felt like friends. Funny how we all have gotton to know each others families and lifestyle adventures and then to meet up and feel like old friends. I look forward to following your blog and to seeing you again someday. What a weekend!
