Geez it had been a cold December and I was really looking forward to our week on Isla Mujeres from 12/24 to 12/31/09. I was so excited, in fact, that even the forecast for a major winter storm on 12/18 - 12/19 didn't phase me. I think that it had been close to five years since I had to spend a night at work because of a storm.Once snow accumulation exceeds 8 " many people who rely on Public Transportation have difficulty getting to work. They were forecasting 12 - 18 ", but they have been wrong before. So what if this was the weekend before we were leaving for Isla and I had a gazillion things to do.I graciously agreed to come in on Saturday afternoon and spend the night to help bring people into work.
The weather guys were on target this time and we got 16.9 " of snow.We provided many rides and my spirits remained high as I would be out of here in four days. I was very happy that the storm occured when it did and that no furthere precipitation was predicted before our departure.
Here is a picture of my street the day after the storm. Little did I realize then that this would be the omen for the Winter From Hell!

Wow! We dodged the bullet here in St. Louis. Only had a couple of snows. Nothing more than 5-6 inches.
