a year in PAris

It is hard to believe that it is almost a year that I have been living in Paris. Last year the day after I arrived my boyfriend threw a surprise party for me. Over 50 people were there. He introduced me to everyone as the love of his life. He still introduces me that way. What a lovely guy.

Last year I was cold all the time. I didn't have any winter shoes but now I have several pairs of black boots. Boots seem to be the thing. They keep my ankles warm too. Today I was commenting on a family of Italians dressed like they were hiking in polar weather. Right next to them was this French guy wearing a short and Tshirt. I think he had been jogging and was coming back from the bakery with several baguettes. We were soaking up the sunshine at a cafe after going to the market. I'm getting acclimated to the weather.

I still am shocked visually. Paris has some extrodinarily beautiful areas but overall it is a big city that to my eyes is ugly. I am comparing it to the beauty of Florence. There is no comparison. I should stop but after living in Florence for over half my and all of my adult life it is natural - home is Florence.

What do i like about Paris? I love the bread. I love the metling pot society and the interesting people. Paris moves it is alive- active. I think that it would be the perfect place to be from age 15 to 25. A gateway to the world. I love the galleries too.
