what exactly is a Maverick?

Elections bring out the worst of us all, for me the worst is event thinking about politics. But hell I was lucky to be born in a democratic country and on top of that a female that has some rights earned with alot of pain and suffering from my ancestors. So why give them up for a stupid idot that doesn't even know what a MAVERICK is but uses the word all the time to describe herself and that old fart she's running with.

This morning my boyfriend asked me the question, "what IS a maverick?" He's french so it is okay that he doesn't know the meaning of such an obtuse english word. Hell that's a good question I thought and imediately grabbed the laptop to look up dictionary.com and as I was doing so said, "It has something to do with cowboys"

What is she referring to, the unbranded calf, the dissenter or the missle? YOur guess is as good as mine; and probably hers too.

These are the seven definitions that came up...

LOL, great post. I love "that old fart she's running with"

There was an old TV show called Maverick, about cowboys. Maybe they hope that by associating themselves with cows and cowboys, voters might think they give a damn about the environment, which they don't.

Great post Angie!!
Interesting that your boyfriend asked about what the word Maverick means. How do the newspapers in France and Italy translate the word? Or do they just use the word "Maverick".

McCain did not use it once in his last debate. I am guessing it was because of the SNL Tina Fey "over use" of Maverick, making them sound so ridiculous using this term to describe themselves. We shall see if he uses it in the debate tomorrow night.

Kim:

My father used to drive a Ford Maverick. It was a piece of crap.
