What a revolutionary moment we are living. Barack Obama is the epitomie of the
In Paris on avenue des Goblins they were selling special editions of Le Monde with guys outside of the kiosks yelling "edition spécial Barack Obama president"
There were little american flags hanging as garlands around the flower shop and the news stand just outside the metro, they say that 84% of the French are happy that Barack Obama has been elected. I guess that now after the FREEDOM FRIES in the US they can now call them French fries again. After the second Bush administration declared social war on France for not participating in the second attack on Iraq, the French with their wonderful cuisine became public enemy number one - as if "french fries" were invented in France
According to Wikpedia:
The straightforward explanation of the term is that it means potatoes fried in the French sense of the verb "to cook", which can mean either sautéing or deep-grease frying, while its French origin, frire, unambiguously means deep-frying: frites being its past participle used with a plural feminine substantive, as in pommes de terre frites ("deep-fried potatoes").[4][5] Thomas Jefferson, famous for serving French dishes, wrote exactly the latter French expression.[4][6][verification needed] In the early 20th century, the term "French fried" was being used for foods such as onion rings or chicken, apart from potatoes.[7][8]
The verb "to french", though not attested until after "French fried potatoes" had appeared[citation needed], can refer to "julienning" of vegetables as is acknowledged by some dictionaries,[9] while others only refer to trimming the meat off the shanks of chops.[10] In the UK, "Frenched" lamb chops (particularly for serving as a 'rack of lamb') have the majority of the fat removed together with a small piece of fatty meat from between the ends of the chop bones, leaving mainly only the meat forming the "eye" of the chop attached.
SOOOOOO,

Hurray Obama! But I also have to say hurray for the Ave.de Goblins -- that has to be my favourite street name, ever!
BTW, did you hear about the 2 Quebecois radio pranksters who phoned Sarah Palin a few days before the US vote. They pretended to be Sarkozy and she fell for it! She stayed on the phone for six minutes, chattering away, thinking (foolishly) that she was talking with the French President!! Yeeesh. I doubt she could find France on a map.

Isn't it a wonderful thing? I can't stop smiling about it! How very unique it will be to have a President that I trust and actually enjoy listening to!
