After I posted some old photos on my blog a few days ago, Barb Cabot e-mailed me to say that I reminded her of someone famous.
Actually, back in my past (my younger, much thinner days), people used to say quite often that I resembled this same person. Given who this person was, and how famous she was at the time, I considered these comments as incredible compliments. I didn't really think I looked like her, but occasionally in a photo you could see some similarity.
What do you think? These are photos from the mid 1980's, when I was about 30 years old (and I think about a size 5 or 7).

Maid of Honor at my sister's wedding

My sister is two years younger than me. We've looked a lot alike our whole lives, but she's not the famous woman Barb wrote me about.

Several people used to say that I looked a bit like Princess Diana! This was back in the time when she was married to Prince Charles and a young mother, back when we thought she was happy. I was about six years older than Diana and definitely never as stylish or glamourous.
Here's a photo of Diana to compare to. I definitely don't look anything like her now!
I was a big fan of Princess Diana. I was devastated when she died, and I got up very early that morning to watch the funeral procession and the funeral on television. I remember tears rolling down my face during the funeral. I saved all the newspapers and magazines from that time and even own a couple of Diana coffee table books.
Is it at all ironic that I married a man named Charles? (Or that my middle name is Diane?)

Kathy, I love that you posted those photos. I was a huge Diana fan as was my mom. I still have Princess Di memorabilia. I even had a dressmaker copy one of her dresses which I wore during my first pregnancy. I should post that someday, my Princess Di dress.

You definately resemble her in these photos. I do think it's quite funny you married someone named Charles and your middle name is Diana.

I could see the resemblance right away, especially in the second photo. I was also devastated when she died. She made such an impact to this world. I was also very sad for her boys. I can't remember now what time the funeral started, but watched the whole thing also, so I must have either stayed up all night or woke up very very early with the time difference here.

You do look like Diana! I thought that before I went to the 2nd page of this post! Incredible!

Oh I can see the resemblance, and the haircut is perfect, too. Diana certainly struck a vivid chord for many of us of this age. I remember watching her wedding on the library tv at work that summer day, and also remember hearing the news of her accident on the one tv in the bar at the Yosemite Lodge - being rather isolated in a national park made it even more surreal.

I saw it right away, and like Girasoli says, especially in the second photo! Very cool!! She was gorgeous, wasn't she. Too bad she died so young.

It's interesting how many of us felt that Diana connection!

I saw it too, before I clicked through. Very cool! I got up at 4 am to watch both her wedding and her funeral. It's still hard to believe that she's gone.
