The Bagnara Estate
BAGNARA AGRO-ZOOTECHNIC FARM is a 1200 acres (590 hectare) large estate looking over the Tiber Northern Valley. It was purchased in 1901 by the present owners, who run it according to the following values: love and respect of nature, care and enhancement of the environment, hospitality and culture.
The farm is made up of pastures, chestnut, oak and holm-oak woods, and a wide water-plain with tobacco plantations (produced since 1930) and sugar beet growing. Inside, it houses raisings of roes, hares and Chianina cattle (a valuable breed, famous for the T-bone steak). The animals have been selected since 1960. It is crossed by the river Tiber and is dotted with several small lakes and brooks.
At 400 meters above sea level, there is a high quality olive growing.
The main feature of the farm growing is the low use of chemicals, replaced with natural fertilisers. The animals are all fed with natural forages and feeds produced by the farm itself.
BAGNARA ESTATE is also a faunal-hunting farm and a natural reserve. In the reserve the hunting is forbidden and for this reason it is the ideal place for many wild animals, such as: foxes, pheasants, porcupines, partridges, squirrels, wild boars, stannels, hares and grey harons. Thanks to the protected environment, rich of water and food, the animals stay there for long periods.
The estate is at the complete disposal of its guest. They can walk through the farm with a guide, pick the flowers and the fruits in the woods, or visit the animal farming, and bike.
In the Bagnara Estate, near the farm house, you can find the Castello della Pieve (Castle of the Parish Church), a real fortress (and also historical building), which received for several stays, the famous "Capitano di Ventura" (leader of mercenary troops) Alberico da Barbiano, who in 1409 died there. He was the "founder of the Compagnia di San Giorgio, the school of the most famous Italian leaders" (Gregorovius. Bibliographic source: Treccani).
The estate contains also almost twenty old country-houses of high historical-architectural value.

Umbria, the Green Heart of Italy
Sometimes referred to as the "green heart of Italy", Umbria is a small, hilly and fairly untouched region between Tuscany and Marche. The landscape is similar to that of Tuscany and combines austere Medieval architecture and stone farmhouses with gently rolling hills and rivers.
Lake Trasimeno is contained within the Trasimeno Regional Park, and serves as a seasonal home to many species of migrating birds, while the River Nera Regional Park contains the Marmore Waterfalls, the highest falls in Italy. There are a dozen or so hill towns, each resolutely individual and crammed with artistic and architectural treasures to rival bigger and more famous cities.
The most famous are Perugia, Assisi (with the extraordinary frescoes by Giotto in the Basilica of San Francesco), Orvieto, where the Duomo is one of the greatest Gothic buildings in the country, Todi, Gubbio (considered the most perfect medieval centre in Italy), and Spoleto.
Le Torri di Bagnara looks over a wide part of the Tiber Northern Valley, 18 km north of Perugia, at 300 m over the sea level. The Tiber Northern Valley is also called "Museum Valley" because of its beauty, art and culture. It is a fertile plain, entirely crossed by the river that flows for about 50 km from Perugia to Città di Castello, in the northern part of Umbria.
The landscape of the valley is surrounded by green mountains and hills dotted with castles, towers and medieval villages.
