Cook Italy offers hands-on cooking for very small groups, taught and led by Carmelita. Carmelita is originally from Malta - think Southern Italian cuisine! - and since 1996 she has lived in Bologna, the food capital of Italy and a gorgeous medieval town that is well worth a visit.
Passionate about quality and very knowledgeable about Italian regional cuisines, Carmelita makes her guests feel instantly at ease and she makes sure the classes are always fun. You eat superbly and learn much much more than just the recipes, the cooking tips and techniques. Which is why Carmelita's guests regularly come back for more.
In addition to 3 or 6 night classes in Tuscany (Lucca), lovely unspoilt Tuscan Romagna (Portico and Tredozio), Sicily and Umbria, Cook Italy offers 1 day Tailor Made Market-to-Table Cooking Classes in Bologna.
You cook in Carmelita's apartment right in the heart of Bologna's historic centre, a stone's throw from the food market. And 30 seconds away from Bologna's best wine shop! The classes start with a market tour as you shop for ingredients in the foodie and photographer heaven of Bologna's Mercato di Mezzo. They last about six hours and end eating the lunch you made, accompanied by Sommelier selected wines.
Also available are
- The Bologna 2 day Cooking Break of 2 classes plus a full food markets tour
- The Bologna Cooking Break with 3 nights accommodation included
- The Bologna Shopping and Cooking Break - a little less focussed on cooking
- The Bologna Gourmet Break featuring Food Artisan visits
On the custom made 2 or 3 day Bologna Gourmet Break, Carmelita will personally accompany you to visit wine estates, and top artisan producers of Parmigiano Reggiano and authentic Traditional Balsamic Vinegar. The Bologna Gourmet Break may also include a cooking class or two, or maybe some dining out in some of Bologna's top spots. It is tailor made, so you plan your perfect itinerary with her.
Cook Italy classe are always hands-on and the groups always small, just 2 to 6 guests, though custom classes for larger groups can run upon request. In fact groups of 4 or more can book an exclusive 5 or 6 night custom cooking class, anywhere in Italy, year round. Provided you give enough notice. And by the way family groups taking a class together, even with very young children, are especially welcome!
You may also be pleased to know that Carmelita will come and run a cooking lesson for you at your vacation rental home if it is within 2 hours of Bologna. That covers covers most of Tuscany and Umbria, the Veneto and the Lakes.
Cook Italy also offers market and food shopping tours (for 2 to 6 people) in Bologna, Florence, Rome, Turin and Venice.
Visit the web site - but try not to do so on an empty stomach! - and contact Carmelita if you want to find out more. She'll be glad to hear from you, and who knows, like many of her previous guests you may find after your class that you now count her among your friends!
