Apricale was choosen one of the most beautiful villages of Italy in 2002, and makes, because of it's location, an excelent base to explore the Italian and French Riviera's. The village is a labyrinth of cobbled partly covered streets and is for pedestrians only (except for the three wheelers used to bring up supplies for the shops and restaurants)

One really feels one is travelling back in time, parts of the village date back to the 13th century. It's piazza is breathtakingly beautiful, and is an excellent place to enjoy an al fresco meal in summer, or just relax with a drink and take in the amazing surroundings. As a friend from the movie industry said: "Hollywood could not have done better". There are food and gift shops in the centre and the castle on top of the village hosts excellent art exhabitions by Picasso, Miro, Follon to mention but a few. This winter Matisse can be admired. The castle also has a cute little museum and panoramic garden. San Remo and  Monaco are the nearest towns, Nice and Cannes are about 1 hr. away. There are some lovely villages nearby worth visiting, Dolceaqua being one of them with it's beautifulroman bridge once painted by Claude Monet.

The nearest beach is 12 km's.

 Casa delle Damigiane has been completely restored in 2002 and great care has been taken to retain it's old charm but with today's comforts. It consists of a well equiped kitchen with a full size cooker with oven and a goodsize fridge/freezer. The bedroom is very romantic and has a double bed (160 cm). There is a "middleroom" with a daybed that can be used as a single bed, a shower room, a livingroom with a convertable sofa, diningtable for 8, a TV with DVDplayer and a hifi system. All ceilings are vaulted and the balcony has stunning views over the valley with it's river and a lovely roman bridge. 

It makes a lovely home away from home, as proven by our many repeat visitors.
