One day cooking classes and authentic, private dinners featuring the traditional cuisine of Umbria

At umbriacooks4u, long time friends Nonie, a native New Yorker, and Tita, a native of Umbria, have teamed up to give you a taste of authentic cooking in Umbria, Italy's "green heart".

Classes are held in the state-of-the art kitchen at Tita's ancestral home just outside Perugia, surrounded by ancient olive groves and the hills of Umbria.

For an authentic taste of Umbria, we offer:

Full Day Cooking Classes – learn age-old recipes that have been passed down through the generations in Tita's family. The classes include appetizers (antipasti), two first courses (primi), a second course (secondo), Italian wines and dessert. These are hands-on lessons so your full participation is encouraged. And there is a heavy emphasis on fun! Special dietary needs will be taken into consideration when planning the menu, accommodating vegetarian diets and food allergies or other restrictions.

Pizza Making Classes – at our Pizza Party, you'll learn the art of making pizza, from kneading the dough to preparing the wood-burning oven outside Tita's home. A variety of toppings will be provided so that each participant can experiment and you'll also learn about the white pizza (pizza bianca) common in Umbria.

Children's Cooking Lessons – this is the perfect solution for families traveling in Umbria. Leave your kids with us for 2-3 hours of fun; they learn to cook and you can take a tour of nearby Perugia. And best of all, when you return you'll have the pleasure of dining on your children's creations.

Cooking Classes At Your Villa Rental – If you are staying in a villa in the area, we can pack up Tita's kitchen and come to you!

Private Dinners - we are not just a cooking school! We also offer private dinners where you'll not only savor the traditional cuisine of Umbria but you will also be immersed in the culture and heritage that make Umbria so special. We can plan a private dinner for your group of 4-10 or you can attend one of our regularly scheduled Umbro dinners, which take place on the first and third Thursday of the month.
