SLOW TRAV FAVORITE delightful, elegant one-bedroom Trastevere apartment
Winter discounts in cozy S.Egidio
Several WINTER WEEKS are still available in MY SLOW TRAV FAVOURITE ROME apartment where you can enjoy the Eternal City when not so many tourists are around. I want to fill the apartment so am offering significant price cuts, as low as $800 a week for this lovely one- bedroom apartment smack in the middle of Trastevere. Don't miss this opportunity. Write me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You won't be sorry.
I lived in this apartment for about 20 years and am now making it available to visitors to this glorious city who want for a few days to LIVE ROME LIKE A ROMAN, staying for a time in this very special neighborhood, where I still live, just down the block from you.
Located at Piazza S. Egidio 14, which you will see from any map is located roughly between Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere and the Tiber, it is a three-room apartment with a large bedroom (double bed) and plenty of closet space, a large eat-in kitchen and a living room that looks out on the piazza. The bathroom, though narrow, is quite modern, and pretty, although there is a shower, not a tub. There are ceiling fans in all three rooms and in the summer there is air conditioning as well. You can see more pictures and get more information regarding availability at http://www.liveromelikearoman.com/. If you want to see what my previous visitors have had to say, click here .
Roughly 60 square meters or 700 feet, the apartment is on the second floor, European-style, which means there are two flights of stairs. There is no elevator. It has lovely wood, beamed ceilings in all three rooms and is very cozily and warmly furnished. It differs from many of the others on the market because of its real, lived in feeling. Along with its attractive furnishings, new, firm mattress, and extremely well-appointed kitchen, there are several hundred books, a broad selection of guidebooks and maps, a TV with Sky Italia satellite that gives you access to dozens of Italian and foreign channels. There is also a VCR and a CD-cassette player with radio and a small computer with, for 10 euros a week, unlimited DSL internet access. There is no washing machine but there is a coin-operated laundromat around the corner.
Rates (it is best for visitors to contact the apartment manager at email@example.com for these) include weekly maid service, utilities (heating or air conditioning depending on the season) and local phone calls. An international phone card can be used to make other calls from the apartment. Please note that the apartment is meant for one person or two people who share a bed. In some circumstances the living room couch can be used by an additional person for sleeping but there is an additional charge for this. The minimum rental period (unless we are talking about a few days tucked in between two pre-existing bookings) is five days.
The bedroom is extremely quiet. The entire apartment is quiet during the day. In the evenings the living room side is less quiet because the café downstairs is highly popular. In some periods, depending on the vigilance or lack thereof of the Rome city police, street musicians and peddlers also make an appearance. And generally, except in the coldest part of the winter, there are lots of people walking about an enjoying the scene since, as you probably know, Trastevere is a sort of Roman Greenwich Village or Marais and is consequently quite lively. During the day the cafe is a nice place for a light lunch and of course Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere is great for coffee in the morning, and for people-watching, one of Italy's oldest and favorite spectator sports.
