Bella Baita offers a warm welcome to the independent traveler or small group desiring a customized, "off the beaten track" holiday.  Your stay in our comfortably relaxing, homey atmosphere, also offers an opportunity to experience and support our less well-known Cottian Alps while staying in a genuine local community.  Our commitment to quality and value is reflected in our varied continental styled breakfast. 

We make our own bread, marmalade, and pastry du jour. We vary the menu by offering locally made cheeses, produce, and meat specialties, in addition to cereal and fruit.

Other memorable meals and self catering are available upon arrangement.

We offer customized "Cooking Together" sessions for 2 -8 people in our newly remodeled Olympia Room.

Activities

Those of you who enjoy alpine activities will find that you are spoiled for choice with all that these Olympic Mountains have to offer. All levels of walking, hiking, road and mountain biking are on our doorstep, with climbing routes at the end of our road 5km past us in historical Grandubbione. This area is rich in characteristic mountain architecture, history, and natural beauty.

Bella Baita's ("small mountain house") French border view is not to be missed and an hours scenic drive up the valley to cross over into France is a pleasant days outing. Along the way you will pass the Fortress of Fenestrelle, largest fortress in all of Europe, snaking up the mountainside with its just shy 4,000 stairs. You will pass thru Pragelato (frozen meadow) where the 2006 Winter Olympic Nordic and skip jumping events took place and flanked by the Orsiera Rocciavre and Val Troncea regional parks. These natural parks are known for their alpine animals and flowers. The tiny hamlet of Usseaux with its many murals depicting life in the mountains and a 2 hour circular walk in the woods is another opportunity to discover and experience the flora, fauna and culture without fighting the crowds.

In addition to the natural attractions of being in the Alps, your stay at Bella Baita is well situated as a base for exploration of historical Waldensian Chisone and Germanasca valleys, as well as exploration further afield of the surrounding Olympic circle, the Piedmont wine country and Torino with its city charms.

Perhaps you would like to explore our Italian and Piedmontese cuisine. We are available for recommendations and can suggest local points of interest and small artisan producers. We arrange outings, tastings, and cooking classes if you have the interest.
