Students have access to a library and study area, a multimedia centre with 5 workstations and free internet access, and a video library and rest area GENERAL ITALIAN COURSEOur General Italian courses in Bologna involve four hours of Italian lessons a day (NOT 4 lessons of 50 minutes like other Bologna schools!) giving a total of 20 hours a week for 1/2/3/4 weeks, as required. Classes are held in the mornings from 09:00 to 13:00. On arrival students are tested to find out their level, then placed in a suitable class with other students at a similar level. Classes have a minimum of 4 students and a maximum of 10. You will be asked to buy a course book to use during your lessons and for homework. Your teacher may also give you photocopies of other resources to use during the lessons. Classes will involve learning Italian grammar and vocabulary, speaking and listening as much as possible, as well as some reading and writing. Our aim is to develop your ability to understand and communicate in Italian, not just to teach you grammar. Our Bologna Italian school is well-equipped for language learning: each classroom has audio, DVD and video and other learning resources. There is also a multimedia classroom available for classes
or individuals to use. Internet access and educational software
is always available. We have a video library of classic Italian films for you to borrow or watch in the school. There are also Italian books and magazines available. Our teachers will give you feedback on your progress during the course, and at the end of the course you will receive a diploma certifying the number of hours you have studied with us and the level you have reached. Classes are held in the mornings from 09:00 to 13:00 and there is an afternoon class or activity for two hours each day, from 15:00 to 17:00. Afternoon options for intensive course students include extra grammar/vocabulary,extra speaking/listening, supervised use of educational software and multimedia resources, or an accompanied visit to a museum or local place of interest. Not all options may be available each week, but where possible students will have a choice of afternoon activity.

ACCOMMODATION BOOKING SERVICEWe offer a free accommodation booking service for students who study Italian in Bologna at Madrelingua. If you want us to book a room for you, please fill in our accommodation form: download accommodation form. At least seven days before the start of your course, we'll send all the information you need about your accommodation - the address, who to contact, how to get there, and of course, a telephone number for you to call if you get lost! HomestaysStaying with an Italian family gives you the opportunity to practise your Italian, as well as to experience real-life as it is lived by people here. This option is also cheaper than staying in a hotel. Host families are carefully chosen by our staff, and live either in the centre of Bologna (walking distance from the school) or within an easy bus-ride (maximum 20 minutes). Homestay prices exclude meals as most students enjoy an active social life and therefore choose to eat out. However, you may use the kitchen if you wish. Single rooms offer more privacy. A double room will be shared with another student, and is therefore a more economical option, or suitable for a couple.
Payment should be made directly to the host family at the beginning of the stay. If you change your plans, you should notify the host family as soon as possible. HotelsBologna offers a wide range of hotels in the city-centre. Prices in 2 or 3 star hotels range from 65.00 euro to 95.00 euro per night for a single room with breakfast, and from 90.00 euro to 150.00 euro per night for a double room with breakfast. If you would like to stay in a hotel, please indicate the price you are willing to pay when you complete your booking form: we will then send you further details of hotels in your price range so that you can choose.
