Torre BertonaCase di Torre BertonaVacation Rentals, Italy, Umbria TODI: charming accomodations in a 16th century mansion overlooking Todi with SpaLocation: Todi Sleeps: each apartment sleeps two/four/six persons
CASE DI TORRE BERTONA Charming Self Catering Apartments
Description: Once a mansion belonging to a local noble family who utilized the house as its preferred summer residence, the entire structure of Case di Torre Bertona has now been converted into guest apartments. The building dates back to the 16th century and has been restored in such a manner as to retain its original simple charm...a fresh cool cosy house to sojourn in the hot summer months or anytime to take a nice stress free break, on the outskirts of the town's center walls of Todi. Perched on top of hill, nearest to the town's center, with a spectacular scenic view of the best preserved part of the city, Torre Bertona is one of Todi's several castles. Torre Bertona is an ideal spot for a perfect long or short term holiday-vacation in the heart of Umbria, still with all the amenities, close by that the town has to offer and very close to the freeway! The three apartments - bright, elegant, and refinely decorated with great attention to detail - have been restored preserving the house noble and long history. We want our guests to feel at home even if for a short stay! A large terrace with a panoramic view is the perfect location for sunbathing or just relaxing sitting outside reading quietly, and ideal for a summer evening dinner party... cool and fresh. A large rustic room used to make wine has been restored and converted into a common lounge. An elegant room opening onto the patio is devoted to relax and equipped with a big Jacuzzi hot tub Below the restored castle structure lies a terraced Garden, which once provided fresh fare for noble lord's table. The garden has been transformed full of botanical plants both aromatic and medicinal, and also is utilized for courses in all phases of herbal lore and preparations, or just to sit and enjoy - in a perfect natural setting - conversing, reading, or being quiet! Two of the apartments, "Domus Picta" and "Angelus Novus" can sleep 2 to 4 persons, while "Ariel" can accomodate up to six people. All have comfortable beds and sofa beds, ancient furniture and modern appliances, besides marvellous views of Todi and the countryside. Case di Torre Bertona features:
The Case di Torre Bertona are rented by days, (minimum two), week or months. They can be rented separately, but it's possible to rent the entire property. For the apartments rented separately the prices range from Eur 400 to 790/week, depending on the size of the apartment and the chosen period. INCLUDED IN RENT: electricity, water, cooking gas, standard heating (see our website), weekly change of bed and bath linens, regular gardening maintenance. All rental fee prices are given in European Euros. The seasonal periods are as follows: Todi, a renowned tourist attraction, is two miles away from the house; it is a charming town with a rich cultural life and is exciting to explore, especially during the early evening and night. For food shopping, there is a commercial centre in Pian di Porto, 1 mile from home, where there are also shops specialized in typical Umbrian products. Perugia (Umbria's main city), Assisi and Orvieto are all reachable in 30 minutes; Rome and Florence are at 1 hour and 1/2 drive. Todi is considered to be one of the best cities in the world for the quality of life; its location is one of the best in Italy in order to visit the principal beauties of central Italy and the landscape and culture are not touristy but genuinely Italian. The community sport centre is in PONTENAIA (4 miles away), that can be easily reached following the signals: there is a nice huge swimming pool, tennis courts, football pitch and other sportfacilities. Some other tennis courts are in Todi, near the main Parking called Porta Orvietana. Torre Bertona is also part of the Tiber Natural Park and of "Circuiti del Paesaggio" / "Landscape Circuits" of Todi and a starting point for easy walks and horse trekking. From Pian di San Martino (1/2 mile away) also starts a cycling circuit called "Tevere ring" : the river Tevere (Tiber) is indeed very close to it, and a nice trip is the one to the river canyons (follow the road towards Orvieto and Corbara lake). In July in Todi there is a famous art and music festival, but also during August there are several concerts and events. During summer, also innumerable "SAGRE" (local celebrations) in the nearby villages and towns take place. Some of the events are really worth seeing. Normally during these celebrations it's possible to eat very good food at convenient prices , because the local housewives cook and obviously it's a wild competition among them. At the end of July there is also a "Sagra" in Pian di San Martino: food and dancing every night, but they allow you to sleep at a convenient time. In Todi you can find a cinema (open air during summer)and a very famous XIX century theatre with good shows, manu restaurants and wineries. Don't miss to visit Assisi, Orvieto and Perugia, with the splendid Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria; but worth a visit is also the Todi museum and the roman cistern below the square, besides a gorgeous fresco in a nunnery called "Purgatorio di San Patrizio". Also Bevagna and Foligno are worth seeing. In general, the countryside around Todi is completely full of castles and every little village has something to attract you, so maybe the best advice that can be given is just to wander around as much as you can (Cecanibbi, Montemolino, Ilci, etc…).
