Located in the Veneto region of Italy just 5 km from the centre of Verona, La Valverde is a beautifully preserved villa dating from the 15th century. It offers two apartments available for holiday accommodation.

The apartments, with old beams, frescoed walls and antique furnishing face a big garden and guests can enjoy the view of the garden with its old trees and many varieties of roses collected by the owner. There is a sunshade and garden chairs in front of the entrance door and an ample parking space under a portico.

The property also has a 17th century wine cellar, with huge oak barrels – real period pieces – which bear witness to a past tradition of wine making. Nowadays the cellar is used for wine tasting and dinner parties.

The surrounding countryside is very attractive and very varied: from wooded hills and mountains to the lake garden. A number of very well known wines, such as Soave, Valpolicella, Bardolino, Recioto and Amarone are produced in the province of Verona.

Guests can catch a bus to Verona’s historical centre (or to the railway station) in front of the villa’s main gate. The bus runs every 20 minutes from early morning until 8 pm (20-minute trip)

It is easy and inexpensive to take a taxi from town back to the villa in the evening.

Grocery stores and other conveniences are all within a five-minute drive. A few shops are within walking distance.

Just a four-minute drive away is the entrance to the A4 highway Milano-Venezia, which makes daytrips for shopping and sightseeing easy and allows Lake Garda, Venice, Padua, Vicenza, Mantua, Ferrara to be reached very quickly.

Best known as the setting for Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Verona does not disappoint in terms of romantic appeal. Rich in art and monuments it also hosts Italy’s largest wine fair in April and an Opera festival in the months of July and August in the extraordinary open-air Roman Arena.

There is also a Roman Theatre where Shakespeare plays, ballets and concerts are staged in the summer.

The surroundings countryside is known for its ample production of wine and oil. Guests may also enjoy touring one of the local vineyards where the prized Valpolicella wine is produced. Dedicated visits to specific sites and venues can be organized.

Cycling is a wonderful way to explore the surrounding countryside and some nice walks can be taken on the Lessini mountains located north of Verona that offer a wide variety of natural habitats. In this area there are some very important fossil sites.

Lake Garda renowned for its beauty offers spectacular sites like San Vigilio and Sirmione where there is a large thermal establishment. The lake also offers the opportunity for swimming, sailing, windsurfing and diving.

Between Verona and Lake Garda there are plenty of things to keep the kids entertained:

Gardaland, the largest amusement park in Italy;

CanevaWorld, a park with various themes such as MovieLand, MedievalTimes, Aqua Paradise, and the RockStar Café;

Parco Natura Viva, with an animal park, botanical walks, dinosaur park and safari.
