Arte al Sole: A Tuscan Cultural Adventure for International Children is an arts-based program scheduled for July 2009 that offers children traveling to Tuscany a unique opportunity to experience the regional culture, and make some new friends along the way. Structured as an American-style day camp set in the Lucca hills, Arte al Sole offers children ages 6-17 an enriching, experiential curriculum based on the artistic, cultural, and scientific innovations that inspired the wonders of the Renaissance. In addition to serving the needs of families traveling to Tuscany, the goal of Arte al Sole is to facilitate international cultural exchange among youths through an emphasis on the arts.

New for this year, director Shannon Venable has partnered with the Colle San Paolo Agriturismo to offer an additional week of Arte al Sole in Panicale, Umbria. Based at the agriturismo's 300-acre organic olive farm, “Castles and Country Roads” will include a visit from a local sheperdhess and her flock, a workshop at the Museum of Glass, one of the oldest glass factories in Italy, where the children will learn the ancient technique of wrapping glass bottles with reeds from Lago Trasimeno, chocolate making in honor of the nearby Perugina chocolate factory, fresco painting, botanical sketching, and forest creature figurines, among much more!
