This roomy stone house at top of the village has the charm of a 200+ year old house yet offers modern comforts and conveniences.  There's a large porch in front,  opposite the church:  you can hear the beautiful choir voices late Sunday mornings, just barely . . .  

 

Kitchen is large and well-equipped, dining room faces front porch, as does sitting large room.  Library behind sitting room, like the kitchen, has doors onto back terrace.  Beyond the terrace is a charming walled garden on two levels, which attracts birds and butterflies.  

 

Upstairs are two bedrooms, including huge master bedroom with ensuite bath.  There's also a second full bath, small library and utility room.  Bedrooms have magnificent views of the valley and of the Dordogne River.

 

Windows allow masses of light and offer pleasant views of the garden, the church, the village below and the valley beyond.  It's a mere five-minute walk to the bottom of the village, where there's a cafe and baker, and to the riverside where the Dordogne and Vezere Rivers meet.  It's a delightful, cozy home in a charming village that's close to all the sights of the area.  It's delightful year-round:  summer is the best for outdoor activities, as are spring and autumn; and in winter it's cozy and as peaceful as ever.

 

P.S.  Early 2009:  It's not balmy this time of year, yet it's serene and a different place, as one sees so much more when the leaves have fallen and are long cleared.  Many restaurants remain open and of course the various outdoor markets continue throughout winter.  Limeuil is quite a paradise -- quiet, cozy, yet not far from all the amenties.  Should you need time for yourself -- for writing, painting, reading, or simply enjoying a beautiful part of the world -- you might want to consider treating yourself to a magical spell in Limeuil!
