Four historic, renovated units ranging in size from large studio to 3 bedroom/2 baths. Located in the scenic hilltop village of Spello in the region of Umbria.
Once a residence for a wine and olive-oil producing family for generations, the property has be recently transformed, with the help of a local architect, into 4 separate units having all the convenience of modern amenities while retaining unique historic charm. There is a lush terraced garden available for your use, which has a view of the surrounding countryside. Each unit is beautifully furnished, and is equipped with full modern kitchen and bathroom, high-speed internet, etc. Ideally suited for weekly visits or long-term stays (discounts for longer terms).

Centrally located for daytrips throughout Italy -- just a 10 minute drive from Assisi; 30 minutes from Perugia; one hour from Siena; two hour train or car ride from Florence and/or Rome.
The town of Spello has an authenticiity that has not yet been spoiled by tourism. It sits on the Southern slope of the imposing Mount Subasio. With a population of only 6,000, Spello has a rich history which dates back to Roman times. It's an ideal place for foreigners to experience the charm of a small medieval Italian village and tolive like a local, experience local festivals and roam the antique/outdoor markets. it's equally well-suited as a home base for daytrips or weekend excursions to many of Italy's most popular tourist destinations (such as Rome, Florence, Siena, Lago Trasimeno to name just a few).
Within walking distance to public transportation (including a train station which connects to Florence, Rome, and beyond), local bakery, grocery stores, cappuccino bars, restaurants, post office and churches. Tours of Roman ruins, cooking classes, horse back riding and spa visits can easily be arranged through a local travel agent in Spello.
Unit #1 ("Augustus") - 1 BR / 1-1/2 Bath, Sleeps 2-4
One large bedroom on top floor with master bath sleeps 2. Living room with fireplace sleeps 2. There are 1-1/2 baths. It can be opened up to the 3 bedroom / 2 bath unit next to it (Unit #2, the "Tiberius"), to allow a maximum of 10 people.
First level: has a large kitchen/dining room combination, fully equipped. There is a large table which seats up to 8. The kitchen opens up to a small balcony overlooking the Roman Properzio Towers. Next to the kitchen is a half-bathroom. There is a washer and dryer as well. The living room has 2 corner couches which could be turned into beds to sleep one adult and a child; a rollaway bed can be brought in to accommodate an additional person.
Second level: The master bedroom features a wrought iron double bed and a rustic 'armadio' closet. This bedroom also has a magnificent view. The master bathroom has a large tiled shower, and two individual sink cabinets.
There is street access to the garden.
Unit #2 ("Tiberius") - 3 BR / 2 Bath, Sleeps 4-6
Large, vaulted 3 bedroom, 2 bath split-level unit. It can be opened up to the 1 bedroom/1-1/2 bath unit next to it (the "Augustus") to allow a maximum of 10 people.
Lower level: The great room, which arched stonework, has a couch which can sleep 1 or 2. There is a bedroom next to the living room, which has a double bed that can be converted to 2 single beds (as needed) and a closet.
Upper level: has a large "eat in" kitchen, fully equipped. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer. The master bedroom has a wrought iron bed and large armoire, and a wonderful view. The 2nd upstairs bedroom is smaller, with 2 single beds and a night stand, and also has panoramic views. The original stonework has also been incorporated into the 2nd bathroom, with modern fixtures and shower.
There is street access to the garden.
Unit #3 ("Mark Anthony") - 1BR / 1 Bath, Sleeps 2-4
Large 1 bedroom local stone unit has been restored with all modern amenities and yet emphasises its medieval character. It is a large cellar built into the natural red rock. For larger parties, Mark Anthony and Cleopatra connect to create a contiguous space.
Lower level: The living room has a leather couch which can become a double bed, plus a rustic coffiee table, and Persian carpet. The full Bathroom has tile and stone walls, with a shower, cabinet and mirror.
Mezzanine level: A glass enclosed loft serves as the Master Bedroom. It has a queen size bed, closet, and mirror.
Direct access to the large garden is from the oversized kitchen.
Unit #4 ("Cleopatra") - Large Studio, Sleeps 2-4
Sleeps 2 in double bed and 2 on couch. This unit is as intriguing as its name; it is a 'monolocale', one large open space which is comprised of a bedroom, a living room space, a small kitchenette complete with most amenities, and a small dining room area with table and 4 chairs. The double bed can also be converted to 2 single beds. The ceiling in the mosaic tiled bathroom is carved into the rock. There is a shower, and cabinet with mirror above the sink, and a bidet. The kitchen has a large refrigerator and a stove top (no oven). Access to the adjacent garden is through a nearby gate.
Low Season: November through March
Mid/High Season: April through October

Unit #4 (sleeps 2) "Cleopatra": Low Season: €600/week; Mid/High Season: €720/week

(Should you desire a shorter stay, we will be happy to negotiate a per diem rate.)
Utilities are €50/week; one-time final cleaning fee is €50.
All fees are payable in advance (i.e. 30% due within 10 days of reservation; final 70% due 6 weeks prior to arrival).
