Villa Due Valliwww.villaduevalli.itVacation Rentals, Italy, Piemonte Self-Catering Villa Apts. w/pool in the Enchanting Monferrato Hills, Land of Wine & TrufflesLocation: The Monferrato Hills Sleeps: 5 each apt.
Villa Due Valli is perched high on a hillside overlooking two vallies in the vineyard-covered hills of the Monferrato in the Northwest Region of Piedmont. This 18th-century villa has been lovingly restored with respect to its original building materials and architecture, but includes all modern amenities, including a pool, air-conditioning, satellite TV and internet connections. The villa contains two large 1-bedroom apts. (c. 90 sq.m. each) as holiday rentals, both with full kitchen, private bath and fully furnished private terrace/courtyard and BBQ patio. The villa is located in the heart of Piedmont's wine-producing region with the surrounding hills covered with acre after acre of vineyards and woodland, dotted with majestic castles, ancient hill-top villages, historic churches and hundreds of family-run wineries and trattorias. Yet it is conveniently located within easy reach of three of Italy's most important cities: Turin (Capital of Piedmont & architecturally stunning - 45 min. by car), Genoa (Capital of Liguria & home to Europe's largest aquarium- c. 1 hr.) & Milan (Capital of Lombardy & city of the world famous 'Duomo' cathedral - c. 90 min.) and five international airports (Caselle, Malpensa, Linate, Genoa & Bergamo - all within 45-90 minutes from the villa). The sunny beaches of the Italian Riviera to the south and the fresh air & mountainous panoramas of the Alps & Lake Region to the north are also short drives for a perfect day trip... and in between the two are the lush, rolling hills of the Monferrato and its sister wine zone, the Langhe. The area also includes the important towns of Asti (Provincial seat and home of the famous 'Palio' horse race), Alessandria (Provincial seat), Alba (undisputed capital of truffles), Cuneo (Provincial seat), Casale Monferrato (historic ruler of the Monferrato), Cocconato d'Asti (known as the 'Riviera of the Monferrato' for its micro-climate & commanding 360° panorama of the surrounding hills), Nizza Monferrato (home to many prestiguous wine cellars), Aqui Terme (ancient Roman thermal baths still in use), Novara (Provincial seat), Vercelli (Provincial seat and Italy's 'rice capital' - source of all those delicous risottos), Voghera, Bra & Moncalvo ('smallest city in Italy')... not to mention the important wine-producing zones of Barolo, Gavi, Roero, Asti, Nizza Monferrato, Cocconato d'Asti, et al. Regional, provincial and local organizations cooperate to provide a rich variety of activities for visitors and locals alike from late spring to early fall, including outdoor concerts (many are free), food & wine festivals, castle tours, modern & classical dance performances, theatre, art exhibitions, historical re-enacments, out-door markets for home-made foodstuffs and handicrafts and much, much more... and virtually every little village hosts it own annual festivites where visitors can enjoy the local cuisine for a very nominal fee (and the wine is often free!) and dance to the traditional music of local bands after dinner. There is much more to say about the area and activities - from museums to horseback riding and everything in between - so, for more extensive information on the villa & surrounds and what to see & do during your holiday, visit our web site at www.villaduevalli.it.
