The accommodation consists of:
#1 - a two bedrooms flat with two shower rooms, with wc, bidet and hand basin, lounge, kitchen, washing machine and outside verandah,
#2 - a large bedsitting room with kitchenette, ensuite bathroom with hydromassage tub and shower, equipped garden.
THE SURROUNDINGS
The house is situated in the historical city centre, close to the gothic Cathedral of Massa Marittima, a most stunning hilltop walled town known as the art capital of Maremma, Tuscany's last wilderness. It is in front of the Isle of Elba, only 12 miles from the Tyrrhenian sea, where you can find long, well-equipped sand beaches and magnificent pine groves, medieval villages with a rich historical heritage as well as Mediterranean maquis forests with pathways to be explored on foot, on horseback or on mountain bike. Ideal setting to discover the untamed Tuscan countryside, wineries and olive groves and last, but not least, high-quality local farm produce, mostly organic (such as wine, oil, raw milk cheese, honey, preserves, salami) and the traditional Tuscan hospitality in the peaceful countryside.
THE AMENITIES
The city of Massa Marittima boasts hiking itineraries and open spaces ideal for outdoor activities, a public heated swimming pool, gym, cinema, a well equipped library with internet points, museums, weekly market on Wednesday and on Saturday, cute shops, delicatessens, wine bars, typical restaurants offering a wide range of local traditional dishes and vintage wines from the Monteregio region and take away pizza houses happy to deliver at your doorstep.
There is a regular bus service to Follonica Railways Station on the main line from Rome to Pisa. The station is close to long sandy beaches rated 4 sails and to shopping precincts and sport centres.
Massa Marittima is great place to stay, it is convenient for day trips to Rome (150 miles), Florence (70), Siena (39) and Pisa (75). There is a regular bus service to Follonica Railways Station and to the beach.
ACTIVITIES
Ideal for hiking, biking, wine touring, swimming, basking in the sun and enjoying "la dolce vita" - the sweet life!
Due to its position in the centre of a medieval hill top city, which has virtually remained unchanged, the house is not ideal for visitors with walking difficulties, yet the effort might be rewarding considering the atmosphere.
