• Itinerary Design

Our clients are usually independent travelers who don't have the time to plan their trip, or just want it done by a professional to save time and energy both before and during their vacation.

 

We start by discussing your interests, then work together to choose and book hotels and restaurants, tickets, classes, activities, or guides. You leave for Italy with a detailed written itinerary which includes maps, all contact details, and best of all, the peace of mind that your dream vacation will flow smoothly.

 

 

• Itinerary Coaching Service

Some travelers enjoy planning their own trips but would like guidance, so Italy Beyond the Obvious provides a coaching service, offered in 7-day periods. All questions are answered by founder and president Madeline Jhawar, availability permitting; send her unlimited emails and you essentially have access to our Little Black Book on the best of Italy. Ask about places to visit or the overall flow of your itinerary. Ask for specific hotel suggestions, restaurants, and guides. She'll answer any general Italy travel questions. She'll tell you what you need to book ahead of time, what you can leave flexible until you get to Italy, and what you should budget. You'll know about events happening during your trip, whether they be concerts, markets, transportation strikes or national holidays.

We plan "standard" trips to Italy for people all the time, but Italy Beyond the Obvious has strengths in some areas, including:

 

•  Off the beaten track

Many of our clients have been to Italy and seen Rome, Florence, and Venice, and want to go back. We highly recommend seeing the top tourist attractions but there is so much more to see in this spectacular country, and we'll help you do it!

 

•  Families

We are experts on planning trips to Italy with kids of all ages, and have lots of suggestions on what to do and see. Let us plan your Italy family travel so that the whole family has a fabulous vacation.

 

• Active vacations

Italy Beyond the Obvious founder and president Madeline Jhawar worked as a tour guide for Butterfield & Robinson and led week-long hiking and biking tours around Italy. She loves to downhill and cross-country ski, is SCUBA certified, is a Bikram yogi, and one of her favorite Italy experiences was climbing the Stromboli volcano.
