Dordogne Country House Holidays

Vacation Rentals, France, Aquitaine

two recently-restored holiday homes with pool at edge of ancient Dordogne village

Location: Monpazier, Dordogne, South West France

Sleeps: Villa sleeps 10 & cottage sleeps 2

Villa Ste Therese offers two accommodation options:  the Villa is ideal for large groups or families and sleeps up to ten, while Les Cerisiers is the perfect cottage for a couple. Both gites were completely renovated in 2011, ready to welcome you for a wonderful retreat. The Villa and cottage can be rented together or separately.

Villa Ste Therese is set on five acres of park-like grounds, dotted with ancient trees and a shady orchard to explore, as well as a 10metre x 5 metre pool. The property sits at the edge of Monpazier, listed as "One of the Most Beautiful Villages in France".  It's an easy 700 metre walk to restaurants, galleries, cafes and excellent patisseries and charcuteries in this quaint village.

The main house offers five large double bedrooms (two can be made into twin beds), each with its own bathroom, and plenty of space for relaxing, unwinding or just sitting on the terrace and enjoying the beautiful vista of the village & rolling valley beyond.

Les Cerisiers, the former gatekeeper's house, can be rented independently. It's a lovely stone cottage, a cosy couple's retreat, with its own private terrace for al fresco dining. There's plenty of space and privacy, as the cottage is about 65 metres away from the main house, shielded by an expanse of lawns, walnuts & cherry trees & laurel hedges. Like the Villa, it offers all modern amenities, including dishwasher, washing machine, satellite TV, wi-fi internet etc.

This part of the Dordogne has plenty to discover. Here's a sample of things to see & do within less than an hour's drive of the Villa:

  1. stunning chateaux: Biron, Milandes, Beynac, Monbazillac, Castelnaud, Bonaguil, Puymartin
  2. gorgeous gardens: Marqueyssac, Eyrignac, Cadiot
  3. amazing caves: Font de Gaume, Grotte des Maxange, Gouffre de Proumeyssac, Lascaux II
  4. the Dordogne river: canoeing, gabarre cruises, river beach picnics
  5. other "Plus Beaux Villages": Belves, Domme, La Roque Gageac, Sarlat, Monflanquin, Limeuil
  6. wine tasting & several Michelin-starred or recommended restaurants

And at the end of a long day exploring the area, you've got the peace and comfort of Villa Ste Therese to return to.

Plenty of photos & info about both houses and this peaceful pocket of the Dordogne can be found on our website. In quieter months (ie not June/July/August/Sept) we can be flexible with short stays, weekend breaks, and smaller groups in the Villa. Just shoot us an email and let us know your dates!
