Welcome to Casa Santo Estevo, a Casa Rural (Bed and Breakfast) set in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra wine region. Our location is ideal to use as a base to explore not only this beautiful corner of Galicia, but other parts of the region too. The owners, Ian and Irene, settled in the Ribeira Sacra in 2004. Their knowledge of the area is comprehensive.

We can suggest a lot of activities to keep you occupied. For instance;

  • The Ruta do Romanico (a route where you can see the Romanic art of the area.
  • Take the Wine route of the Ribeira Sacra. Visit some bodegas maybe participate in a Cata (wine tasting).
  • Visits to wine festivals, markets or traditional fiestas, if they taking place whilst you are staying with us.
  • Ride one of the catamaran boat services. It is an enjoyable way to see the countryside along  the Rios (rivers) Sil or Miño.
  • For the more energetic there are zodiac boat trips, canoe hire, mountain bike hire or guided or unguided walking routes. There are several golf courses near by too.
  • Even things like archery lessons.
  • Or simply relax on the local river beach or in our garden

Accommodation: Casa Santo Estevo is a restored Galician farmhouse. The house has been furnished to retain that old world ambiance of the original farmhouse, yet at the same time there are all the comforts that modern living requires. Where it was necessary new materials similar to the old ones were used.

The house has 3 stories all are accessible by stairs. The house consists of 6 bedrooms; all with en-suite bathrooms. In addition there are several areas that are shared with other guests. The house is equipped with central heating, TV, plus an Internet connected P.C. For added convince there are WiFi hot spots too. All areas inside the house are nominated as non-smoking areas.

Outside the house there is a garden. This is a great place to sit and relax read a book have a glass of wine. The views from here are wonderful and overlook the wine terraces on the opposite side of the valley. Also at the front of the house is a small balcony.

There is a car park located next to the house.

Meals: Breakfast is free/included in our prices. It is based upon locally obtained produce, including the homemade jam.

We do not serve midday meals.

Evening meals: The meals consist of three courses including a locally produced wine, water, plus an after meal coffee. We also stock labelled bottles of Ribeira Sacra wines if you want to try one of these with your meal. Our evening meals are cooked mainly to Galician/Spanish recipes. The menu will vary with the seasons and what can be purchased locally. Mealtime is around 21.30.

Location: We are located just about an hours drive away from the infamous city of Santiago de Compostela. Just under an hour away from the World Heritage site Muralla Romana (Walled city) of Lugo. Around 30 minutes drive from Ourense with it's hot spring baths.

The use of a car is advisable to make the most of your visit to the Ribeira Sacra
