Slow Life Umbria is a small boutique hotel in Castel Rigone, created so that you can enjoy the finer things in life in peace and tranquility. This 17th-century stone farmhouse has been expertly restored by architects Pietro Abbruzzesse and Dario Sasso to great accolade at the Triennale of Milan exhibition in 2006. Right in the heart of the rolling Umbrian countryside, guests of this sylvan oasis can enjoy walks in the forests and through the olive groves and the proximity to Perugia, just 10-minute drive away. Dine on sumptuous regional cuisine in the restaurant, relax by the pool, explore the nearby villages and enjoy the slow life in Umbria. AccommodationThere are 14 rooms & suites at Slow Life Umbria, each one decorated with a simple, contemporary style, with a natural palette of dark & light wood and creams. Each room has porcelain flooring and original wood-beamed ceilings and to keep your toes toasty on cooler nights, there is hydronic under-floor heating. All rooms have luxurious en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers and fluffy bathrobes, towels and natural bath products provided. The Green Suite also has a 25 sqm private terrace where you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast. Fix yourself some tea or coffee from the complimentary set and open the windows wide to admire the breathtaking views. Slowing down and enjoying the country pace of life is the order of the day, so you won’t find a TV in any of the rooms and that’s just how you’ll want it. ActivitiesLet us help you discover slow travel in the Umbrian country-sitde. There are some great hiking and walking trails starting at Slow Life Umbria so you can take in the beautiful surroundings of Umbria, a landscape of olive groves, vineyards and fertile rolling hills. You can also explore the region by horseback or head down to the nearby Trasimino lake for a day of windsurfing and sailing. Watersports can also be enjoyed at the Valnerina in the heart of the Mount Sibillini National Park, an hour’s drive away. Here you can glide down the Black River on a raft or try kayaking and canoeing. Golf enthusiasts needn’t travel far, with a great course 20 minutes from Slow Life Umbria. For art lovers, there is plenty to explore in the churches and museums of the nearby villages and cities, including some wonderful Renaissance works in the Basilica of Assisi and the Cathedral of Orvieto, and Perugia is just a short drive away. However, an equally wonderful day can be spent by the outdoor pool admiring the views. DiningThe gorgeous menu uses fresh ingredients sourced from the best of Umbrian and Tuscan organic farms nearby.
