This sample classified uses all the different formatting options that you can use to create your listing. I have explained each option below.

Text

When you type a regular paragraph into your listing, it takes the default "paragraph" style. You do not need to put blank lines between paragraphs because they are automatically spaced.

Here is the second paragraph. You can see that there is a space before this paragraph.

Adding Headings

There are four different heading levels (the pull down list has six levels, but the last three are the same). I recommend using "Heading 2" to create new sections in your listing.

To apply a heading level, type in the heading, then with your cursor on the heading line, use the pull down list at the top left of the input box to select the heading level.

Formatting Text - Bold, Italic and underline

You can used bold, italic or underline to emphasize text. Select the text and click the button on the tool bar.

Remember, underlined text usually means a link on the web. It is best to not use much underlining in your listing.

Here are some examples:

Formatting Paragraphs - Alignment

Paragraphs can be left aligned, centered, or right aligned.

Bullets and Indenting

To add bulleted lists, click the bullet icon in the tool bar at the top of the input box and type your list. To stop the list, hit Enter twice or select Paragraph for the first line that is not part of the list. Here is a sample list:

Pellentesque ac wisi dignissim mi tincidunt dapibus.

To indent, put your cursor in the paragraph to be indented and click the indent icon. Here is an example.

Special Characters

You can add special characters to your listing by clicking the special characters icon on the tool bar. These characters include: ♥

Horizontal Line

You can add a horizontal line to separate parts of your listing. Click the horizontal line button on the tool bar.

Links to Website/Pages

It is easy to put links in your text. Type the words that you want linked, then select them and click the link button. Put the full link, including the http prefix, in the box. Here is an example: My Slow Travel Website. In the link box, if you select Target - Blank, the link will open in a new window when someone selects it, as in this example.

Or you can type the link (and you don't need the http prefix), like this: www.slowtrav.com. It is automatically made into a live link.

Note: When you go back and modify a listing, the software puts the http prefix into your links so that instead of www.slowtrav.com, it is http://www.slowtrav.com/. You can edit out the prefix each time you modify your listing.

Adding Your Own HTML to a Listing

You may want to put custom HTML into your listing to display a logo from your own site or do custom formatting.

Note: Only do this if you are comfortable working in HTML.

Click the HTML button in the toolbar and you will see your whole listing in HTML. Make any changes. Put in your custom HTML. Then click the button again to have it return to the text view (the text view is how it will look when displayed on the website).

Copying from Word or Your Website

You can format your listing in Word and then paste it into the text box and have all the formatting preserved. I will do a separate sample for that.

About the Title Tag and Description Metatag

When you create a listing, the Title Tag for the page consists of:
company name, category, subcategory, caption

The Description Metatag consists of:
Slow Travel, caption

The Title Tag and Description Metatag are used by search engines for keywords. Look at the top of this sample listing to see the title tag displayed by your browser.
