Slow Travel Contest 2006 - Online Contests

A history of the contest

Five online contests were held on Saturday January 7, 2006. Winners of the online contest are added to the list of winners for the grand drawing on Saturday January 14 (not eligible for grand prizes).

First Contest - 9am MST

The answers to the questions are found on the www.slowphotos.com photo gallery or the www.slowtrav.com website. Answers may be links to photos/pages or written answers (taken from the site). You must answer all 3 questions correctly and be the first one to post the answers in this thread to win.

Some questions can be answered by posting a link; others have to be answered in words. Read the questions carefully. Questions that can be answered by posting a link, can also be answered in words (for those not comfortable cutting and pasting links). Remember, both www.slowphotos.com and www.slowtrav.com have search functions to help you find answers.

Hint: Italian cats must like motorcycles, because we have more than one photo of this. To answer you only need find ONE photo.

Second Contest - noon MST

This one is a Treasure Hunt. You have to walk your way thru the www.slowtrav.com website finding pages based on "hints". You know you have found the correct page, because you will see a Treasure Chest icon near the top of the page. Click on the Treasure Chest to get the next hint. The answers to ALL hints are found on the www.slowtrav.com website. The final Treasure Chest will give you a page with an "answer" on it. Type that answer into the REPLY of this thread - the first one with the correct answer wins.

Third Contest - 3pm MST

This one consists of 5 travel questions about Italy. Answers may be on www.slowtrav.com , but you may also have to look at your Italy maps and guidebooks. Post your answers for all questions at the same time. First person to post with the 5 correct answers wins. The questions will be posted in 5 minutes.

Fourth Contest - 6pm MST

The posting of answers got confusing and I declared Cyndy a winner, but Daniel had posted the correct answers earlier, so we declared it a tie. Then we realized that Stella had answered first, but something unexplainable happened to her photo link.

Fifth Contest - 9pm MST

This is the last online contest! What a rush this day has been. The next one is two travel questions for Italy. Answers can be found on http://www.slowtrav.com, or in guidebooks, or through Google. The first person to post the correct answers to both questions, in the same post, is the winner. The two questions will be posted in 3 minutes.
