Hiking Trail "L'Aigue Brun"

Drive to the intersection of the D232 and the D113. Set your odometer to zero.

Continue on the D113 in the direction of “Buoux.” Drive through Buoux, always on the D113.

At 3.4km, follow the direction “Les Seguins/Fort de Buoux.”

The parking lot will be on your left at 850m.

Park your car (don't leave anything visible inside) and walk back up to the road then turn right. This hike will take around an hour there and an hour back.

Just down and across the road, go left onto the trail where you see the marker.

Throughout the hike, stay on the main trail (widest.)

You will come upon an old stone picnic area on your right.

Next you will see the small stream on your right. You will have the stream on your right (but not always visible) until you cross the small wooden bridge.

Look out to your right for the tower that is the Prieure de St Symphorien (former home of Jane Fonda and Roger Vadim.)

You will come to a hairpin turn to the right with a road going on straight ahead. You will take the hairpin turn on the right. To make sure you are on the right path, look for the blue markings on the tree as you turn to the right.

As you follow the road as you make the right hairpin turn, it will descend slightly and curve around to the left. As you come out of this left curve there will be a fork to the left. Take it.

Cross over the small wooden bridge. Now the river will be on your left

In the next meadow, on your left, you might see donkeys.

Turn left through the stone gates.

Do not take the left fork, which is private property.

Instead, take the fork on the right that goes slightly uphill.

Watch for the yellow markings.

Pass by a meadow on your right.

Continue on.

Pass this house on your left.

Carry on down the road.

You will pass by some rocks with signs of past habitation.

Pass the Auberge de l’Aiguebrun on your left.

At the crossroads sign, follow "Grotte des Brigands."

Carry on past the chicken coop of L'Auberge de l'Aiguebrun.

Take the smaller fork on the right.

Bear to the right at the large boulder.

Bear to the left as the road slopes down.

Bear to the left, again, as the road slopes down.

Arrive at the stone bridge and go down to your right towards the river. If you go straight on, you will be going toward the Grotte des Brigands.

From the river, look back for a view of the stone bridge.

Climb up to your right to the rocks and have a picnic.

If you look up towards the road from where you are sitting on the rocks, you can see the sign for the D943 indicating Buoux 5 kms and Apt 12 kms.

After your picnic, return the way you came. Follow the indications to Buoux to the left.
