Highest marks for a Toulouse hotel, the Albert 1er (meaning premier), in downtown Toulouse. I travel widely and the Albert is one of the most pleasant hotels I’ve seen. I stayed there for several days a week ago. It’s difficult to capture all its features, but here’s a start: Friendly, efficient 24 hour English-speaking front desk Large rooms Fabulous breakfast at e10. Visually delightful, with a wonderful attention to detail. Centrally located near shopping, medieval district, RR, all the downtown sites. Wi-fi in rooms, no charge. Multi-lingual tv. Designer soap and shampoo in luxury bathroom. Luxury bedclothes, lighting, ambience. Three blocks from a dozen fabulous restaurants. In sum: tasteful, charming, delightful. Shockingly, the place is **. It matches and surpasses most French **** hotels. I paid e80/night for single occupancy of a double room. The hotel has many many rave reviews at tripadvisor.com, which is where I first heard of it. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
