L'Auberge de la Commanderie is a small hotel (2-star) in the center of St. Emilion. I would recommend it as a good, clean place to sleep with a prime location. Best of all, the hotel has a parking lot of its own, although it is a few blocks from the hotel itself. Parking can be difficult to come by in St. Emilion! However, you can pull up to the front door to drop off luggage if necessary. I think our room rate was around 70 Euros. This hotel never came up on any searches of mine on the internet. A French friend of mine found it for me, yet it has a good website. After my friend made a reservation for me, I called to give a credit card number and the person to whom I corresponded spoke English very well. When we checked in, the front desk clerk spoke English as well. Our room was VERY small. We were tripping over our luggage! However, it was clean and adequate. Our room was one above ground level and overlooked the front of the hotel, but it was still quiet. The rooms vary in size and view, so I am sure some of the rooms are larger. We chose not to have breakfast, but the breakfast room looked quite nice. There is also a small elevator in the hotel. The hotel's location is excellent. It is right in the middle of town and you can walk everywhere. We toured Chateau Villemaurine which was right outside town and an easy walk from the hotel. The wine tours are only in French, so I am sure I didn't understand everything completely. It was an excellent tour. Chateau Villemaurine has underground cellars with many rooms and a few antique winemaking tools on display along with a statue of Bacchus, the Roman wine god. I would so highly recommend seeing St. Emilion if you will be in the Bordeaux area! It is a beautiful, medieval town surrounded by vineyards.
