Albert and Kate Woodbury rebuilt an old stone farmhouse 10 years ago and did a lovely job in creating a pretty spot that is very comfortable. Kate speaks fluent French and they both are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to picking among the many destinations and restaurants in the several nearby Dordogne villages. Our cost for a large room and access to a common room with kitchen facilities, visitor info, and computer was E360 for the 2 of us for 4 nights. An ample breakfast was included. A fantastic b & b in a restored early 19th century house and barn. The b & b is owned by a very friendly, helpful couple originally from Northern California (they'll recommend restaurants and make reservations for you). The house is beautiful, and there are lovely grounds, tables to sit outside, and a pool. There is free internet on their computer, a common room with a small library, and a nice breakfast (yogurt, fruit, bread croissants, jams). The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the shower/tub combo has a great shower head and a big tub. The bed is probably the best I've had in France (good pillows, too). It's a few minutes drive from Castelnaud, easy to get in and out of and so a great base for touring the area. This was the best place I stayed on a recent two week trip to France. Lovely well-located chambres d'Hotes in the Dordogne. The hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned that they are from our home town in CA.
