Extraordinary Chateau in Lower Normandy in the Le Perche Forest in the commune of Belleme. Gracious rooms, sitting areas, grounds and amazing breakfasts.

We're still here--and will be here until the middle of August. We returned after a three-night stay last year and it is as good as it was then.

The owners know the area well and can guide you to all the lovely towns. From each town including Belleme there are at least a half-dozen marked trails through some of the most beautiful countryside around.

There's a local products market every day in another town -none are far away - and many of the local producers open their farms for visits. We're just back from a hike where we purchased bread from a 100-year-old recipe and cheese from a dairy farm.

The owners of the chateau have their own farm and make us incredible eggs every morning. Add to those their homemade jams, fromage blanc, nut bread and then the goodies they buy at the local bakery - croissants, fiselles, etc. It is a good thing we are doing a lot of hiking.

There's also a swimming pool across the street, but we haven't had time to use it. Hands down one of the best places we've ever stayed. Tonight they're making us a salad from home grown produce.
