When: August 2004

Looks great on site but small room, dark, smelly. Charged 45 euros for a simple omelet meal for 2; 20 euros for a breakfast we didn't have! Unfriendly and unhelpful owners.

My husband and I arrived late (before 10 p.m.) due to car trouble. We'd phoned; they said fine. When we said we hadn't eaten and wanted to drive to Sarlat to find a restaurant (quite a drive, at night), the husband said nothing was open, so we asked if they could make us a sandwich, an omelet, anything. We each got a one-egg omelet that came with 2 tiny pieces of rolled up ham, some lettuce, half a sliced tomato and some bread. Of course we were very grateful, but when we saw the charge on the bill - 45 euros!!! - we couldn't believe it.

Unapologetic, they'd also charged us 20 euros for two breakfasts we didn't have. She said because we didn't notify them we weren't having her breakfast. It is the hotel's responsibility to ask - besides, breakfast wasn't included in our room rate... We succeeded in getting that charge removed, but not without an argument. Greedy, ungenerous. Too bad, because the pool/view is nice.

Oh yes - other clients in the parking lot, leaving when we did, had similar gripes. They were incredulous at the overcharges and nasty attitude - like when we asked "Nelly," the wife, over her €20 measly breakast the first morning: "How far is Rocamadour?" She snapped back, "There's plenty to see in THIS region!" We believe she was fearful we'd find a better hotel and not return.

Could not recommend this hotel. Would not return!

We found this hotel to be out of the way, and hard to find. We had to drive a distance for dinner. The only meal they served was breakfast.

The owners were not very friendly or helpful and some of their do's and don'ts really spoke for their attitude. You were not allowed to have any food or snacks in the room! We have never eaten a meal in a hotel room, but if I want a apple after coming home for dinner it was not allowed.

You are not allowed to take the towels from the room to their swimming pool, instead you must get a towel from the office at the rate of either 4 or 6 euros per towel. There were a few more rules but these two I thought were strange.

The place had a musty smell. The shower was quite small.
