A gem in Paris - more than lived up to expectations. {3 stars}

I found Hotel de Varenne searching on the net. The situation of the hotel seemed to suit all our needs regarding position, price and best of all that it had A/C. They were prompt in replying to any emails I sent them.

On arrival we found that the hotel more than exceeded our expectations and was even nicer than in their website (which sometimes can be really deceiving!!). I rang down to ask for an extra pillow and it was brought up in record time. The reception staff were outstanding; providing first class service and so willing to help with anything.

The whole hotel has recently been refurbished. The room we had (€127 per night) was smallish but extremely comfortable. A wonderful bathroom.

Breakfast is not included but you can either order a full breakfast or a la carte.

Right next to the hotel there is a little supermarket, a patisserie/boulangerie, fruit shop, deli and Italian restuarant that will pack food for you to take away. There is no food served at the hotel in the evening but they are more than happy for you to bring food that you have bought and sit and eat it the lovely courtyard. They even supply the plates and cutlery!

The Rodin Museum is about 150 meters away and the Metro station just around the corner.

The willingness to make the guest feel at home is wonderful and we will certainly go back there again. I just hope it doesn't become too well known ...
