Anyone who dreams of stepping back in time will love this hotel and medieval city. It is a fairy tale come true. Try the officiatl tourist information website for Carcassone. This will show you much better than I can describe this wonderful place. This city is as it was all those years ago. Wonderful shops inside and great restaurants. The hotel is within the ramparts and stepping into it with its fab medieval decor complete with "Tin Man" at the bottom of the stairs is great. Rooms were good. It has a very nice garden, too. If you have a hire car the hotel has a garage. We paid approx. 96 euros, which we thought excellent considering its location. The night porter on the first night was very helpful and friendly but the downside was that most of the other reception staff we encountered from then on were not so helpful and didn't always speak English! But it wouldn't deter us from recommending this hotel. This review is the opinion of a Slow Travel member and not of slowtrav.com. |
