Reasonable, small "chambres d'hotes" hotel on quiet pedestrian street in upper Marais, minutes from Arts et Metiers metro.

If you're looking for very reasonable accommodation in the upper Marais and you're an independent traveler, this is an excellent choice.

Really more chambres d'hotes than hotel, it is run by its owners Didier and Marc, and you'll feel like you're in a home rather than a hotel. Rue du Vertus is a quiet pedestrian street. There is a school across the street, so front rooms get some noise during day. The front desk is not always manned and reception phone isn't always answered, which means you take your key and you're on your own. If you require typical concierge services, this is not a good choice.

Rooms are small and spare, but well designed. We stayed in suite #42, which had typically small (but updated) bath with fantastic rain shower head. Rooms are reached by one flight of stairs, then small elevator to floors 2-5. This, coupled with no offer of help with luggage, means it's not a good choice for travelers with accessibility issues.

Ample buffet breakfast is served in basement "cellar" with vaulted ceiling.

Excellent value.
