Small gem on the Seine across from the Louvre. {2 stars}

Hotel Quai Voltaire is, where else, on the Quai Voltaire across the Seine from the Louvre museum. Built in the 17th C., it has held up well. Previous guests include Baudelaire, Pisarro (ain't the view familiar?) and Oscar Wilde.

It is a short walk to Notre Dame, the Musee Malliol, the Rodin Museum, the Musee d'Orsay and all the other stuff you want to see on the left bank & just a hop skip & a jump across the bridge to the Louvre, the Palais Royal, Les Halles, etc.

4th floor rooms have balconies. The hotel is on the shabby-genteel side, but the rooms are clean, comfortable and reasonable size for a major city and the bathrooms are up to snuff.

The desk clerks speak English and are very helpful. In fact, if you come in late and the bar is closed, the night desk clerk will get you a nightcap.
