A lovely small hotel in the center of Caen; excellent staff.

This lovely small hotel is in the center of Caen, within walking distance to all the city offers. In the heart of a pedestrian-only area, it is a wonderfully convenient place to be without a car. Groceries, movie theater, department stores, public transit (delightful tram), street market, parks, and restaurants are all in the neighborhood.

The lobby is pleasantly appointed with a small bar, comfortable leather furniture, and elevator. The desk was staffed by kind, well-trained professionals.

Breakfast is in the top-floor lounge, and is a generous buffet of breads, pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, meats and cheeses. The view of the chateau of “William the Conqueror” and the spire of the Church of St-Pierre are a lovely backdrop to the strong coffee, proffered by an ebullient breakfast hostess.

Our room was not large, but was thoughtfully and efficiently appointed. It had a very comfortable bed, mini-fridge, thick carpet, working double windows, table and chairs, reading lights.

Best of all: free WiFi in the room! This was a true luxury for us as Wifi can be quite exorbitant in many French hotels.

I believe the hotel is rated 3 stars. We paid E90 for two people including breakfast.
