Excellent spot for a morning coffee and pastry or a light and inexpensive lunch. Great place for picnic food too!

Directions: At the corner of Boulevard Carnot (the main road that circles the centre ville of Aix), Rue Portalis and the Cours des Arts et Métiers. A short walk from the Place des Prêcheurs, one of the main market squares.

This excellent boulangerie/patisserie is located one block from the language school I attended for several weeks in the summers of 2007 and 2008. I went here every morning during our "pause" for coffee and a pastry and had lunch here severals days as well. Although there isn't any outdoor seating, there are tables and tall stools inside to seat maybe 15 people. It's a friendly, efficient and economical little place.

In addition to a wide assortment of breads and pastries (my favorite is their "sacristan") they sell a nice assortment of sandwiches, salads, quiches and pizzas to eat there or to go. It's just five minutes from the Place des Prêcheurs, where the big fruit and vegetable market is held three times a week. Get a few things there, then a few things from this place, and then head down Les Cours des Arts et Metiers to Parc Rambon for a picnic.
