Inexpensive, decent food in the heart of tourist-land.

After a few major strike-outs in the crowded and touristy Honfleur, we were a bit nervous about venturing into unknown restaurants. So, one night, we chose a place that was very crowded with diners. (Before, I had made the mistake of looking for places that "looked cute" or "had a view.") This place was Le Lutetia.

Several menus are offered at different prices, and we chose a very inexpensive three course menu - only €12.50 each. Colleen started with a green salad that had a ton of shredded carrots on it; while nothing special, it was very fresh and tasted fine. I had a big bowl of really delicious, fresh mussels. For our second plate, we both had the chicken with a Calvados cream sauce. While perfectly edible, we could detect no sign of the Calvados, and the chicken was just OK. Still, for the price we paid, we were happy.

Colleen had a fabulous (and huge) apple tart with caramel sauce, and I had a creme brulee to finish. There was a small supplement for Colleen's dessert, but that was OK because it was really good. With a carafe of house wine and a bottle of water, our total was about €40.

Service was sort of funny here, we called our waiter "the mumbler" but everything came out efficiently and we enjoyed the whole experience.
