This was the first restaurant we visited in the Drome in June 2008. If you like escargots, this is a very good option.

Directions: From the middle of Dieulefit, take the D538 in the direction of Nyons. L'Escargot d'Or is on your left, approximately 1-2km from Dieuleift.

This was the first restaurant the four of us visited in our time in the Drome in June 2008. It was recommended by our hostess and two of our housemates raved about a lunch they had enjoyed a few days previously.

The entrées basically consist of a varying number of escargots. They were excellent - if you like escargots. The setting, decor and service were all very good. When asked about our meal the next day, we all said it was OK - but perhaps not as good as we expected. Very possibly our expectations were too high.

I gave this a positive review because there was nothing wrong with the meal - just not outstanding. I would return to L'Escargot d'Or - but this time maybe for lunch. L'addition for the four of us, including a bottle of water, aperitifs, a bottle of wine and 4 cafés was 151.50 euro.
