Hearty Home Cooked Alsatian Mountain Meal

Directions: It is way up in the Mountain; between Citymaps2go and your GPS, it will get you there

Ferme Auberge Le Musmiss was recommended to us by the owner of the Gites we were staying in in Kaysersberg. I had asked him for some good places to eat, and when we mentioned we were going to drive the 'Route de Crete' he told us about this place. He did say it was high up in the mountains but this place is special. Whne we walked in around 2:00 PM there were a few people who all seem to know each other; the owner and the one waitress was chatting with them and they welcomed us without the blink of an eyelid in spite of it not being on the usual tourist track and we certainly looked different. We shared half a carafe of the local Riesling with a bread basket while they made us fresh vegetable soup and a generous portion. We followed this with two meat dishes, Oscar's a meat loaf kind of thing and mine a pork disk along with a large bowl of fresh salad. They pride themselves on growing their own food. We ended the meal with cheese and pleasant bill of Euro 29 all inclusive. This is not any fancy meal...plain hearty mountain meal in an atmopshere where' everyone knows your name' or made you feel they did even if they did not.
