Before Paris, my image of a French Brasserie were defined by the images of this restaurant in the movie, "Something's Gotta Give." That still holds true.

We dined here twice in June 2006. I got to accompany Chris to Paris on a business trip and based upon Daniel's review on SlowTrav, and seeing this restaurant in the movie "Something's Gotta Give," we decided to take Chris's client here one night. He liked it so much, we took him and his boss back the next night.

Our first night, Chris started with delicious escargot and Matt, his client, with an arugula arnd parmegiano salad. Next, they shared the Chateaubriand, normally made for two, accompanied by delicious roasted potatoes. For my entree I enjoyed a lamb curry but to start I had a terrine de saumon (salmon) - good but not what I had expected. Yet it was dessert that stuck out in my mind, profiteroles with the most decadent, "lick your plate clean," chocolate sauce I've ever tasted. Chris enjoyed his Creme Brulee and I unfortunately do not remember what Matt had.

We had started the evening with a round of drinks (kir royal for me and Matt, a martini for Chris), and enjoyed a bottle of Mont St. Emil Treytin and two bottles of Badoit (water) with the meal and finished off with some sauternes. The bill for the three of us came to €218.20.

Our second night I started with arugula with thick slices of shaved parmegiano reggiano (what Matt had the night before) but don't remember what the others had and I shared the Chateaubriand with Chris. To make up for the profiteroles of the previous night, I had some fresh berries for dessert.

Unfortunately, my notes on this meal are sorely lacking but I definitely recommend the restaurant for good food, at not too outrageous a price, though not inexpensive, with the classic brasserie feeling. Oh, and don't pass on those profiteroles.
