Toulouse: Le Mange-Tout

Fresh food, prepared well.

I ate here in 2008, after hearing about the restaurant in a vegetarian friendly list. I normally have to restrict my expectations when travelling in France, as most establishments only seem to have the standard risotto, or pasta as the veggie option.

Similarly most places offer the chef’s veg plate, which is normally little more than an ad-hoc selection of side dishes from other offerings on the menu with no harmony or overall coordination of the taste.

At Mange-Tout, although the menu did not have a lot of vegetarian offerings, the owner was very kind and accommodating, and the chef’s plate was very pleasing. To be honest, I cannot recall the specifics of the dish, but I can remember a fresh, well-balanced, and even possibly organic vegetarian salad appetizer, and fresh pasta with vegetables prepared really well.

The overall experience was very good, and would recommend Le Mange-Tout, especially to vegetarians who might otherwise have little selection in Toulouse.
