We arrived just before our check-in time of 5 p.m. and found Christine our host in the main house. We kind of had to look around as nothing was clearly marked as reception so just had to wing it.

The Domaine is situated between an olive grove and a large field which had jsut been harvested in the Aix countryside just 3 km from Aix which made for many great quick trips into this fabulous town. It was exremely easy to find as it was just off the highway but seemed very far from it.

Our apartment was quite spacious and clean and the curtains and couches were all covered with the beautiful fabrics and patterns of the region. On arrival we noticed that at least one lightbulb in everyroom seemed to be out, we eventually got the lightbulbs but we did have to install them ourselves, not a huge deal of course, but still not the best of service in my books.

We had a very large private terrace to enjoy dinners by candlelight and the view of the pool.

This is a very relaxing place, not much action as most of the guests seemed to keep pretty much to themselves here. A rather funny note that we found in our "House Instruction Book" was "No Lousy Children", now we all had a good laugh over that one but we figured that something was lost in translation there, probably meant no misbehaved children.

While our hosts were nice enough, I got the feeling that there was no love in the air, perhaps they really didn't enjoy their job of opening up their home and property to strangers. Now perhaps I'm wrong, but it was such a completely different feeling from Domaine du Crestet, the great place that we had just come from, where you could actually feel the love! (see my review for that place as well)

Domaine de la Roseraie - The Romarins apartment for 4 people -1200 Euro a week.
