studio apartment in 2nd arrondissement, Paris

Location

The apartment is in the 2nd arrondissement near the Rue Montorgueil market street. It is within walking distance of the Les Halles shopping complex/metro stop. It is a lively area with lots of shops and restaurants. The apartment is within walking distance of the Louvre. The neighborhood is great during the day but felt a tiny bit dicey at night (this from someone who has lived for years in Manhattan and Brooklyn - so I'm not usually overly paranoid).

Nearby Amenities

Lots of restaurants, shops, cafes a block away on Rue Montorgueil.

The House/Apartment

In an apartment building, nice and quiet, a little dark (windows overlook a courtyard, no direct view of the street or the sky).

Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas

Nice, tasteful furnishings, sort of a Euro-modern style. There is a double bed, plus a couch and coffee table, but no dining room or dining table.

Bedrooms/Bathrooms

Comfy bed, nice spacious bathroom.

Kitchen

Kitchen was very nice and well-equipped, but tiny. There is a dishwasher, a coffee maker, and an electric tea kettle. Also a nice assortment of pantry staples.

Problems or Bonuses

No surprises - a very straightforward rental.

Agency and Representatives (and price)

$120 per night, excellent price for a nice apartment. Vacation in Paris is a very pleasant agency, based in New Jersey.

Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?

This was a great apartment and it's in an interesting non-touristy area of Paris. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this apartment for a single woman traveling alone (because the neighborhood seems a little dicey at night).

Things to do in this area

The wonderful Stohrer pastry shop is nearby. It's interesting to learn about the history of the Les Halles market (no longer in operation) nearby, and St. Eustache church is worth a look.
